biography

Sebby Sambom

Sebby Sambom (born 3 January 1975) is the Spokesperson of the West Papua National Liberation Army - Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM).
On 16 October 2008, Sambom took part in a peaceful rally in support of the launch of the International Parliament for West Papua (IPWP) in London. After the demonstration, the chairman of the event's planning committee, Buchtar Tabuni, was arrested. Sambom then asked for Tabuni's release at a press conference held at the Theys Eluay Cemetery, Sentani, Jayapura until his detention.
Sambom was eventually sentenced to two years in prison on charges of sedition (Article 160 of the Criminal Code). Sambom was released on parole on December 14, 2009, before he completed his sentence. In 2022, he stated that he was no longer subservient to Benny Wenda on the grounds of "destroying the struggle of TPNPB".
