TPNPB Burns Military Personnel’s House in Yahukimo, Asserts Rejection of All Indonesian Government Development

PAPUA — The Central Headquarters Management of the National Command of the West Papua National Liberation Army (KOMNAS TPNPB) officially declares responsibility for the burning action of one unit of house belonging to Indonesian military personnel in the center of Dekai City, Yahukimo Regency.

​The action on Saturday, May 16, 2026, was led directly by Makar Sobolim along with TPNPB troops from the Wekom and Lampion Posts.

​In addition to conducting the burning, TPNPB also confiscated a number of sharp weapons in the form of bayonets and machetes belonging to military personnel.

​TPNPB Spokesperson, Sebby Sambom, in a press release, Monday, May 18, 2026, asserted that this action is part of enforcement operations against the Indonesian military entering without permission on land belonging to indigenous peoples.

​TPNPB states they will continue to intensify similar operations in the Yahukimo region and strongly reject all forms of programs brought by the colonial government.

​"We firmly reject infrastructure and economic development in the Land of Papua before the State of Indonesia resolves the root cause of the conflict in the Land of Papua," said Sebby Sambom.

​Furthermore, TPNPB issued a stern warning addressed directly to President Prabowo Subianto and his ranks to immediately stop all development projects in the TPNPB operational area.

​This continuously increasing conflict makes TPNPB also issue an ultimatum for construction workers as well as Indonesian immigrant citizens who are considered to help succeed government programs in the conflict area.

​"We assert to President Prabowo Subianto that before the root cause of the conflict in the Land of Papua is resolved, then all development, we remain reject and the war between the West Papua National Liberation Army and Indonesian military personnel will continue until Indonesian colonialism recognizes the independence of the Papuan nation," asserted Sebby Sambom.

​Through this release, KOMNAS TPNPB also appeals so that Indonesian immigrant citizens as well as foreign citizens who currently are running economic business activities in all areas of armed conflict of the Land of Papua to immediately stop activities and return to their respective hometowns.

​TPNPB asserts they will not hesitate to take execution actions in the field for anyone who is proven to be involved in the sale of construction tools or participates in succeeding the economic turnover which is assessed to only benefit the interests of the state and Indonesian immigrants.

​This warning is issued as a form of anticipation so that civilians do not become targets in the warring area that is currently raging. ***
