YAHUKIMO – Tensions in the Yahukimo Regency have peaked again after the Central Headquarters Management of the National Command of the West Papua National Liberation Army (KOMNAS TPNPB) released an official report regarding a shooting incident that occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026. In this third press release, TPNPB claims to have shot two people suspected of being Indonesian government military intelligence agents posing as Civil Servants (ASN) in the Kali Biru area, Dekai City.
The report received from Major Mackar Sobolim explained that the shooting was carried out by TPNPB forces under the leadership of Mackar Sobolim along with Lampion Heluka. In addition to leaving two targets in critical condition, the attack also targeted two vehicle units, resulting in severe damage to the doors and the body of the cars.
Major Mackar Sobolim emphasized that the Indonesian military apparatus must not hide the identities of the shot victims because TPNPB declares they are ready to take full responsibility for the action. TPNPB also reminded that they had issued an ultimatum since April 26 stating that every driver of a car or motorcycle passing through the war zone must lower their vehicle windows and remove their helmets. TPNPB stated that the disregard for these rules led TPNPB to carry out the execution because they suspected intelligence agent movements behind civilian identities.
"We also emphasize to the Indonesian military apparatus not to hide all the Indonesian government military intelligence agents who were shot, this action was truly carried out by us and we are ready to take responsibility," Mackar Sobolim asserted in his official report.
Furthermore, TPNPB has designated the Yahukimo region as a war zone and issued a stern warning to Indonesian immigrants and military apparatus to immediately vacate the area. TPNPB stated they are already on the battlefield and ready to continue the war until independence for the Papuan nation is achieved.
"Immediately vacate the Yahukimo area because I, Mackar Sobolim from Korowai, am already in the war zone in Yahukimo and ready for war until Papua is Independent or the Indonesian colonialism state recognizes the independence of the Papuan nation," the statement read.
The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB also urged the Indonesian Government to immediately evacuate all Indonesian immigrants working as ASNs, construction workers, motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers, teachers, and health workers from the conflict zone. TPNPB threatened to continue shooting them if this evacuation plea is ignored by the state.
Through Spokesperson Sebby Sambom, TPNPB stated that all impacts and victims that fall in the future will be the full responsibility of the Indonesian government if they continue to allow civilians to remain in the red zone after this evacuation order has been issued. ***
