YAHUKIMO – Tensions in the armed conflict area of Yahukimo have reached a peak once again after the TPNPB Kodap XVI Yahukimo troops officially declared responsibility for a series of attacks targeting air and land armadas belonging to the Indonesian military on Saturday, April 25, 2026. In the action, which took place from morning until afternoon, TPNPB successfully shot two aircraft units and disabled four car units identified as transportation means for military intelligence agents.
The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB, through its official press release, emphasized that this attack was a direct order from the Commander of TPNPB Kodap XVI Yahukimo, Brigadier General Elkius Kobak, along with Operations Commander Major Kopitua Heluka. This offensive step was taken because TPNPB detected the use of civilian facilities for the mobilization of logistics and Indonesian military personnel into the war zone.
TPNPB Spokesperson, Sebby Sambom, stated that these actions are a firm response to intelligence and military activities considered a threat to the sovereignty of the Papuan nation. "We are responsible for the shooting of two aircraft units and four car units belonging to the Indonesian government's military intelligence agents until they were leaking while entering the armed conflict area in Yahukimo," stated Sebby Sambom while delivering his official report.
According to TPNPB's explanation, the use of civilian aircraft by Indonesian authorities is a dangerous violation because they are used for dropping war logistics. Meanwhile, the four four-wheeled vehicle units that were the targets of the shooting were said to be frequently used by Indonesian military apparatus to carry out operational activities in the conflict area.
Following this incident, the Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB issued a stern appeal for the Indonesian military to immediately stop the practice of using civilian aircraft for the benefit of operational missions in the Land of Papua. TPNPB also urged all military intelligence agents to immediately vacate the Yahukimo area as well as other conflict zones to avoid further casualties.
This call was also directed personally to the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. TPNPB emphasized their readiness to continue the battle until the independence of the Papuan nation is successfully reclaimed. "TPNPB will always be ready to engage in battle against the Indonesian military apparatus to reclaim the independence of the Papuan nation, so we ask the Indonesian government to immediately evacuate all Indonesian military intelligence agents out of TPNPB operational areas," Sebby Sambom continued in his statement.
In closing, TPNPB issued an ultimatum that if this warning is ignored, they will not hesitate to execute anyone considered an intelligence agent or immigrant sent by the Indonesian government to enter armed conflict areas. This action serves as a strong signal that the escalation of conflict in the Land of Papua is still far from over as long as the demands for independence remain unfulfilled. ***
