PAPUA - West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) Defense Regional Command (Kodap) III Ndugama Darakma is responsible for the shooting action against a driver on the Trans Wamena-Nduga route, Tuesday (15/9/2026). The shooting incident occurred in the morning around 09.25 WIT.
Commander of TPNPB Kodap III Ndugama Darakma, Brigadier General Egianus Kogeya stated, "is responsible for the shooting against an Indonesian government military intelligence agent who works as a driver on the Trans Wamena-Nduga route on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 around 09.25 in the morning," he said, Tuesday (15/9/2026).
TPNPB also asked all Indonesian immigrant residents who work as motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers, to State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the transit areas of Wamena-Nduga, Wamena-Tolikara, Wamena-Yalimo, and Wamena-Jayapura to stop their activities. TPNPB emphasized that it is ready to shoot dead if the warning is ignored, because TPNPB considers the migrant workers act as part of the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) military intelligence network.
"Therefore, we convey to Indonesian immigrant residents who work as motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers and ASN to stop their activities, if this appeal is not heeded then the consequence must be shot dead because we label you part of Indonesian military intelligence operating in armed conflict areas," he emphasized.
TPNPB even conveyed a strict warning for anyone crossing the Wamena, Habema, Nduga, to Mumuggu areas. Those areas have been designated as shooting targets by TPNPB. TPNPB mentioned this ultimatum was issued as an important warning in accordance with International Humanitarian Law enforced on the ground.
Meanwhile, TPNPB conveyed to Indonesian military personnel to conduct the evacuation process of the shooting victim along with the car fleet that was burned at the crime scene. TPNPB also emphasized to native Papuan people, including those serving as members of TNI or Kepolisian Republik Indonesia (Polri), not to interfere in the evacuation process of the shooting victim on the Trans Wamena-Nduga route.
TPNPB indeed restricts access to transportation routes in the conflict border area so that it is only intended for native Papuan residents. According to TPNPB, all drivers from Indonesian immigrant residents are strictly forbidden from entering the Trans Wamena route area and its surroundings, and are not allowed to enter areas marked as war zones in the Land of Papua.
Other TPNPB commanders, Major Maleo Kogeya along with Albu Battalion Commander Major Ebaroak Gwijangge and Commander of Operation Company 1 Kasie Albu Paldo Nirigi also emphasized that the ultimatum to vacate vehicle routes was published long before this shooting action incident occurred. TPNPB stressed that any immigrant resident violating the area vacating provisions will face shooting dead action.
TPNPB also touched upon the Papuan public and Indonesian security forces attitude when the shooting of toddlers, schoolchildren, pregnant women, to servants of God of native Papuans occurred. TPNPB emphasized that residents should not question the shooting action against Indonesian immigrants because an official ultimatum had been issued from the beginning. (One Papua)
