WAMENA - The National Command of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) announced the expansion of the armed conflict area to the Hoborama area, Jayawijaya Regency, as well as warned all Indonesian immigrant residents to immediately vacate the war area in the Land of Papua for the safety of lives.
Spokesperson for the National Command of the TPNPB, Sebby Sambom, Thursday (10/9/2026), stated TPNPB acts on behalf of the High Commander and 36 Defense Regional Commands to carry out war functions based on the terms of international humanitarian law.
The armed conflict zone in the Land of Papua covers the areas of Ndugama, Puncak Jaya, Puncak Papua, Intan Jaya, Tolikara, Maybrat, Sorong, Pegunungan Bintang, Yahukimo, Lani Jaya, up to Wamena.
The expansion of the operation zone to Hoborama in the Baliem Valley was carried out by TPNPB from Defense Regional Command (Kodap) III Ndugama which has moved to control the battlefield on the ground.
Meanwhile, Indonesian immigrant residents working in various sectors, whether church services, health, education, or agriculture, are prohibited from entering and operating in the conflict zone.
The fatal shooting of three people in the conflict area occurred because those three people fled when about to be inspected by TPNPB in the operation area.
One woman suspected of working as a journalist was also monitored by TPNPB as an intelligence agent sent directly from Jakarta.
Anyone among immigrant residents or indigenous Papuan residents who becomes a henchman of the Indonesian military and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will be cleaned up by TPNPB.
This firm warning was conveyed so that civilians can avoid loss of life and immediately leave all combat areas in the Land of Papua.
The workforce in all government institutions, public services, and regional leaders in the Land of Papua must be fully filled by indigenous Papuan residents who have higher education backgrounds and adequate skills.
The Indonesian government no longer needs to bring in immigrant residents from Java, Toraja, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Kalimantan, NTT, Maluku, or Bali to fill job vacancies in new provinces and regencies.
The principle of the national liberation struggle of the Papuan nation aims to reclaim the right to independence of 1 December 1961 which was snatched through Indonesian military invasion since 1 May 1963.
The Papuan people have proven civil strike actions by not attending the independence commemoration ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia in several areas such as Tolikara and Yahukimo.

TPNPB also strongly condemned the ambush and shooting of four TPNPB members in Yahukimo which was deemed to violate international humanitarian law of war.
