PAPUA - The escalation of armed conflict in the Wamena region, Jayawijaya Regency, Mountainous Papua Province has now entered a new chapter.
TPNPB confirmed that a shooting occurred in Muliama Village, Muliama District, against a group of TNI members disguised as Food Assistance (Bapang) distributors.
The report of the incident was conveyed directly by the Spokesperson of the TPNPB National Command, Sebby Sambom, Wednesday (9/9/2026).
"On Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 15:47 WIT located in Muliama Village, Muliama District, a shooting occurred against 3 disguised TNI members," said Sebby, Wednesday (9/9/2026).
TPNPB stated that the casualties in the operation were not pure civilians, but rather disguised Indonesian military personnel. "They are TNI members according to the statement of the TNI Commander, so they were only disguised as Government workers," emphasized Sebby.
This assertion was based on the increasingly uncertain situation on the ground following rising combat in the Central Highlands region of Papua.
TPNPB considers the presence of the Indonesian military under the guise of civilian workers, agency official staff, agricultural personnel, teachers, and health workers to be part of Indonesian intelligence strategy in the conflict area.
Meanwhile, TPNPB stressed that the battle map has now spread across various strategic points in Wamena.
"We have said that in Wamena the war has already begun. TPNPB has started attacking," said Sebby. TPNPB considers this situation to severely endanger the safety of non-Papuan residents remaining in the conflict area.
Therefore, TPNPB urges all Indonesian immigrant citizens to immediately vacate and leave the battlefield area to avoid civilian casualties.
"So it is better for these Indonesian immigrants to leave the war zone. What are you coming for? We always convey that later when Papua is independent, only then will we build our own country, no need for Indonesia," said Sebby.
TPNPB views the presence of immigrant citizens in the war zone as only complicating the ongoing humanitarian situation.
TPNPB even urged Indonesian migrants to return to their areas of origin immediately and not force themselves to stay in battle-prone regions. "So just go home. Do not come to the war zone, especially in the Central Highlands, Papua," added Sebby.
This firm message and warning were delivered to serve as serious attention for the general public and authorities in Jakarta. "You may convey this to the people of Indonesia and the government of Indonesia through the media," said Sebby.
TPNPB expressed appreciation to all media personnel who consistently deliver current news regarding the battle situation in Papua transparently.
