PAPUA - The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) stated its official position on the struggle and remains united in seizing West Papuan independence. TPNPB emphasized that the current leadership structure is under one official command resulting from military reform.

​TPNPB spokesperson Sebby Sambom stated that this explanation was issued to answer public concern and confusion regarding the communication system and command of the struggle that has been running so far.

​"From the Central Headquarters Management Control, the Chief of Staff today will fully explain the control position and management, how we control the media to convince the public nationally, internationally, as well as the people and fighters," said Sebby Sambom, Tuesday (1/9/2026).

​Meanwhile, TPNPB Chief of General Staff Major General Terianus Satto emphasized that the Central Headquarters Management Control on behalf of the High Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of General Staff remains united in maintaining the mandate of the voice of the Papuan people. TPNPB ensured that the mandate for publication and delivery of struggle news is fully entrusted to the official spokesperson.

​"We from the Central Headquarters Management Control on behalf of the High Commander, Deputy Commander, and I as the Chief of General Staff entrusted by the people. We remain united in maintaining the voice of the people, where we are entrusted to carry the voice of Free Papua. So what is conveyed by the spokesperson is a command decision. And he is mandated as the spokesperson for the National Command TPN who continues to convey Papuan struggle news through the National Command to the world, to the international, national, and local public," said Terianus Satto.

​Terianus Satto added that all TPNPB leaders have united under a single command although field conditions mean the leaders are not always in the same location. However, TPNPB continues to work to update information on the progress of the struggle, which is distributed centrally at all times.

​"So all parties do not need to doubt us, leaders have been united in one command, but conditions have made us not together. Second, the team is working on how to update all news and that news is continuously relayed by the National Command TPN spokesperson Mr. Sebby Sambom. So once again, all parties do not need to doubt. What is conveyed by the spokesperson is a command decision on behalf of the High Commander and Central Headquarters Management," continued Terianus Satto.

​Terianus Satto urged all Papuan people to unite and realize the direction of the struggle toward independence without slowing down the ongoing movement. TPNPB believes that a natural selection process is underway for the struggle of the Papuan nation.

​"The people's struggle is dying, let us think together, each be aware how Papua becomes free. Let us not slow down the struggle. Nature is selecting us. Perhaps that is what we can convey. May the Lord God of the Papuan nation always accompany the righteous people to speak out for a free Papua," said Terianus Satto.

​Reinforcing the explanation, Sebby Sambom also conveyed the background of the active involvement of the spokesperson and TPNPB General Operations Commander Major General Lekagak Telenggen in releasing statements to the public.

​TPNPB also explained that there are efforts by the Indonesian military to target leaders, causing TPNPB leaders to operate separately across various Defense Regional Command (Kodap) areas.

​"The purpose of the Chief of Staff speaking is (because) there are many people who doubt, many people question why, how come, in every statement only the spokesperson conveys, the Chief of Staff does not, the Commander does not, the Deputy Commander does not, only Operations Commander Lekagak Telenggen with the active spokesperson. To answer that, the Chief of Staff already conveyed earlier that command management is such. So what is conveyed by the spokesperson of the West Papua National Liberation Army National Command is the voice of the people or the voice of the TPN leadership. So it is one, not divided. Because there is a situation where the Indonesian Military tries to kill all leaders, so all are scattered, dispersed. Therefore all management is controlled by command. So what is conveyed by the spokesperson is valid. And it is official from Command to be followed by all parties," emphasized Sebby Sambom.

​Sebby Sambom referred to the history of the Biak High-Level Conference (KTT) held in May 2012 as a milestone of TPNPB military reform. The 2012 Biak Summit succeeded in uniting former military leadership factions across various defense regions into one valid national command structure.

​"So the point is like that. Because of the 2012 Biak Summit, we say military reform has taken place. Because previously in the past, many leaders claimed as commanders, for example Goliath Tabuni, Thadius Yogi, Kelly Kwalik, Bernard Mawen in Merauke, Richard Yoweni on the East Coast, all claimed as commanders. And high commanders. Eventually the young generation saw this situation, and agreed to facilitate all leaders gathering to unite. At the Biak Summit, it was attended by over one thousand delegates from all over Papua, everyone finally united, and that is valid," revealed Sebby Sambom.

​TPNPB stated it stands firm with the young Papuan generation to continue the agreed line of struggle without being influenced by dynamics or complaints from other parties. TPNPB ensures the consistency of the armed struggle remains under the control of a single command resulting from the 2012 Biak Summit agreement.

​"Whoever does not agree, please go ahead. You have your right, but we TPNPB together with the young generation now, we will not back down, will not be busy with all complaints from other groups, but we keep moving forward to seize independence under one command that has been reformed through the 2012 Biak Summit," concluded Sebby Sambom.

​The leadership structure of the TPNPB National Command based at Central Headquarters oversees 36 Kodaps throughout the Land of Papua. TPNPB emphasized that all press releases, position statements, and field information issued by the official spokesperson are valid decisions from the highest ranks of the High Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of General Staff.
