SORONG - The Indonesian military was reported to have launched an aerial bomb attack using drones targeting the headquarters of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) Defense Regional Command (Kodap) IV Sorong Raya in early August 2026. The incident resulted in damage to the headquarters area in the Aikimun Battalion.

​The bomb attack was carried out twice on Monday, August 3, 2026, leaving two large crater holes due to the explosion in the headquarters yard.

​The bomb attack launched twice did not cause casualties among the TPNPB Kodap IV Sorong Raya troops. "The troops were conducting operations at that time so they were not at the location of the incident," stated Deni Mos, Tuesday (8/18/2026).

​TPNPB urged President Prabowo Subianto and the Indonesian military to comply with international humanitarian law in the armed conflict in the Land of Papua. TPNPB also asked President Prabowo Subianto to use military defense equipment in a balanced manner during the war in Papua in order to avoid civilian casualties.

​Previously, aerial bomb attacks via Indonesian military drones were said to have claimed many civilian lives and damaged property in Nduga, Intan Jaya, Yahukimo, and Pegunungan Bintang. TPNPB reaffirmed the urgency of compliance with international humanitarian law to protect the safety of communities in the conflict zone. (One Papua)
