UGIMBA - Helicopter flight activity of the Indonesian military in the region of Ugimba District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, was reported to have experienced a significant increase throughout the day on August 2, 2026.
Based on monitoring in the field, around six to ten helicopters belonging to the Indonesian National Armed Forces were seen going in and out of that region repeatedly from morning until afternoon. Among the air fleet that operated, there was also identified the presence of one or more helicopters made by Russia that were flown in that area.
Until this report was drafted, there has not yet been any official statement from the authorities regarding the purpose nor the type of operation that is being carried out. However, this situation triggers an increase in attention amidst the local community that is monitoring the developments in that region.
"The community around the region of Ugimba District is appealed to remain vigilant, careful, as well as prioritize self and family safety while continuing to monitor the development of the situation," stated one of the local situation observers in his statement, Sunday (8/2/2026).
Meanwhile, residents continue to increase high vigilance considering the unusual intensity of Indonesian military flight in the airspace of Ugimba District.
