TOMOHON - The National Committee for West Papua (KNPB) Indonesian Consulate along with four KNPB regions—Nyiur Melambai Manado, Tomohon, Minahasa Raya, and North Minahasa—held a discussion and joint prayer at the Kamasan Putra VIII Dormitory, Tomohon, Wednesday (1/7/2026). This activity was held to commemorate the 55th Proclamation Day of West Papua Nation Independence which fell on July 1, 1971.
The discussion focused on explaining the history of July 1, 1971 as a milestone of the independence proclamation which is assessed to be the fortress of the West Papua nation struggle. Meanwhile, the agenda continued with a joint prayer for the fighters, activists, defense elements, as well as reflection for the future of Papua.
"This commemoration becomes a momentum to remember history, honor the fighters, as well as strengthen togetherness among the attending participants," said Hiskia Meage, Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Hiskia Meage as the Management Board of KNPB Indonesian Consulate was fully responsible for the running of the event which brought together various youth elements. This event was said to run conductively and closed with a reinforcement of joint commitment toward the future agenda of the movement. (One Papua)
