PAPUA — A civilian alliance calling itself Solidaritas Rakyat Papua Barat Bergerak has launched an open action call to demand the revocation of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) throughout the Papua region.

​This step was taken following deep concerns over the real threat to the living space of indigenous communities, the destruction of the environmental ecosystem, and the future sustainability of the local generation.

​This civilian solidarity assesses that the escalation of large-scale development by the central government often goes hand in hand with an increase in the Indonesian military presence. This security approach is considered to narrow the democratic space and the right to expression for civil society in voicing their customary rights.

​Meanwhile, Solidaritas Rakyat Papua Barat Bergerak invites all layers of society, especially in the West Papua region, to consolidate civilian strength peacefully. This national consolidation is seen as important in order to provide a strong political push toward the protection of customary forests in conflict areas.

​As a form of manifestation of the struggle, the public is urged to use a red-colored cross symbol as a symbol of peaceful civil resistance in the field. The symbol is positioned to be a collective reminder of the commitment to guard customary land from the threat of large-scale corporate exploitation.

​"The future of Papua cannot be built through an approach that ignores the rights of indigenous communities or environmental sustainability," said the Coordinator of Solidaritas Rakyat Papua Barat Bergerak, Sunday (28/6/2026).

​This alliance emphasizes that the natural wealth and cultural history value in the eastern region of Indonesia have an ecological position that is very important for the global world. Therefore, the urge of rejection against militarism continues to be voiced in order to guarantee a safe living space for the generation of today and the future. (One Papua)
