PAPUA – The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) reports an Indonesian military operation in Agisiga District, Intan Jaya Regency, which has been ongoing for two consecutive days since Friday, June 26, 2026, until Saturday, June 27, 2026. The operation involves the deployment of military helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and ground troops.

​The Indonesian military burned the houses of civilians in villages in Agisiga District on Saturday (27/6/2026). This action is a continuation of the tactical ground and air operations intensified in the region.

​On yesterday's Friday, the Indonesian military apparatus also carried out bomb attacks from afternoon until night. This aerial bombardment targeted civilian residential areas before ground troops moved to control the region.

​The air attack continued into a ground operation, then burned houses and other civilian facilities in Danggoa Village, Soali, and other Agisiga District areas. As a result of this operation, a number of public facilities were reported to have suffered heavy damage.

​"The Indonesian military brutally destroyed our living space with bombs and fire without regarding the presence of children and women," said the West Papua National Liberation Army (WPNLA), Saturday (27/6/2026). This attack forced civilians to leave their homelands to seek protection.

​The escalation of fighting in the central highlands region of Papua worsens the crisis of food self-sufficiency and medical access for the local indigenous people. TPNPB mentions this large-scale operation further extends the long list of internal displacement in Intan Jaya.

​Meanwhile, the blockade of civilian mobilization routes by the military post-attack makes independent monitoring of the humanitarian situation difficult to conduct. This restriction of access triggers concerns from various human rights monitoring organizations.

​TPNPB also emphasizes that they will remain defending the defense territory in ancestral lands from the penetration of security forces of the Indonesian military joint operation command. Periodic fighting is reported to still occur at several points of the outer perimeter of Agisiga District. (One Papua)
