DEKAI — Joint personnel of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) searched a resident's house in the complex behind the Gidi Braza Church, Yahukimo Regency.
The operation, which took place at 05:30 Papua Time, reportedly damaged a number of belongings, clothing, and kitchen utensils inside the house.
The joint TNI-Polri forces arrested a civilian named Bonusi Kobak (27), a man from Kali Woo who was visiting his family in the complex at the time.
"This arrest is preliminary information, and we request monitoring from all parties because the situation in Yahukimo and conflict areas is increasingly massive," said a Human Rights Defender (HRD), Friday (19/6/2026).
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the victim following the arrest by the Indonesian military are not yet known with certainty, as he was immediately taken away from the raid location.
This search incident adds to the long list of security tensions occurring in the armed conflict areas of Papua in recent times. HRD also requested all parties to oversee the legal handling procedures for detained civilians to prevent further violations. (One Papua)
