BALIM - The West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Balim Region officially inaugurated its new board management for the upcoming period at the Balim KNPB Secretariat, Wamena, Highland Papua Province.
The inauguration of the new management was led directly by First Chairman of the KNPB Central Management Board (BPP), Warpo Wetipo.
Before the inauguration process was held, the committee had successfully organized the 4th Conference of Balim Region KNPB from September 11 to 12, 2026 in Wamena.
The conference carried the main theme regarding the rise of resistance struggle to determine self-determination for the West Papuan nation.
Meanwhile, the subtheme raised focused on efforts to prepare human resources toward the national struggle of the Papuan nation.
This trial activity brought as many as 68 official participants from 40 districts in Jayawijaya Regency who were accommodated in 20 base sectors.
The entire course of the trial was led by the BPP KNPB Working Team with the main agenda of conducting a deep evaluation of the management performance and the organizational work program.
The forum participants agreed and officially established the composition of the New Management Board of Balim Region KNPB to run the organization.
Mardi Hiluka was again trusted to carry the mandate as Chairman of Balim Region KNPB.
Meanwhile, the position of Vice Chairman was held by Kris Yelemaken, Secretary Wim Alom Kabak, Regional Spokesperson Namene Elopere, and Treasurer Jecky Elintamon.
In addition to the core management line-up, the conference also finalized the establishment of a number of commissariat heads and field management in the management structure.
The inauguration event of the new management was then held coincides on Saturday (19/9/2026).
This important moment was attended by KNPB leaders from various regions such as West Balim, Yalimo, Yahukimo, Dogiyai, Middle Mamberamo, and Pegunungan Bintang.
Papuan people living in the Wamena area also appeared to attend giving full support during the process.
On that occasion, KNPB leaders across Lapago together with BPP KNPB held an open press conference regarding the call for national struggle.
Balim Region KNPB asserted their view regarding the political situation and humanitarian crisis occurring in the West Papua region.
Balim Region KNPB assessed Land of Papua has been in a military emergency and humanitarian crisis condition for the last 65 years.
The political status of the Papua region is viewed as a form of dispute involving the Government of Indonesia, West Papua, and various parties holding economic and political interests.
Therefore, Balim Region KNPB again reasserted the position of the organization related to the designation of the Papua region as a military and humanitarian emergency zone.
Warpo Wetipo conveyed a call for national action scheduled to take place on September 30, 2026 upcoming.
"We call on all region KNPB, consulates, struggle components, and Papuan people to national consolidation," said Warpo Wetipo, Saturday (19/9/2026).
This consolidation call was aimed at all layers of society in the West Papua region, especially those in the Lapago area.
The national action to be held raises the main theme regarding Papua military and humanitarian emergency zone.
This movement was called as a form of protest against the Rome Agreement of September 30, 1962, which was assessed closely related to the transfer of the West Papua region.
Warpo Wetipo added an assertion regarding the importance of the unity of all people components in guarding the national struggle agenda.
He appealed to all parties to set aside differences for the sake of justice, humanity, and freedom for the people of West Papua.
The resolution of the root conflict of Land of Papua according to KNPB needs to be pursued through an official international mechanism, namely a referendum.
The democratic mechanism is viewed as the best way to determine the future political status of West Papua. (One Papua)
