PAPUA - The Central Headquarters Management of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) asserted the shooting and kidnapping of nine women in Jila District, Mimika Regency is not part of the Free Papua political struggle.
The Command Headquarters Management of the National Command (KOMNAS) TPNPB received an official report from the Commander of TPNPB Defense Regional Command (Kodap) III Ndugama Darakma Brigadier General (Brigjend) Egianus Kogeya regarding the criminal act in Jila District on 17 August 2026.
The shooting and kidnapping against civil citizens were carried out by an irresponsible group that intentionally acted in the name of the Free Papua struggle.
The illegal action in Jila District killed a mother and kidnapped nine women who up to this time are still under age.
The group was also reported carrying out a counter action in 36 Kodap across All Papua Land and involved in the release of pilot Philips Mark Martens which did not conform with official protocol.
The new structure of Kodap X Nduga was never registered in the official registration code of the Central Headquarters management of KOMNAS TPNPB.
The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB only acknowledges Kodap X Paniai under the leadership responsibility of General Goliath Naaman Tabuni, Lieutenant General (Letjen) Melkisedek Awom, Major General (Mayjen) Terianus Satto, and Mayjen Lekagak Telenggen.
The involvement of Pemne Kogoya as Operation Commander of Kodap X Nduga was asserted not included in the official structure of central defense.
The attack action on the Jila Post that shot members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) as well as civil society constitutes a deed without human morality.
"TPNPB Kodap III Ndugama Darakma rejects officially the attack, killing of a Mother, and kidnapping of nine under-aged women in Jila," asserted Egianus Kogeya, Saturday (12/9/2026).
The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB never teaches all troops in 36 Kodap to kidnap or kill civil society citizens.
Death execution is only carried out against intelligence agents installed by TNI and the Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) based on interrogation evidence and jungle law.
Egianus Kogeya asked the KOMNAS TPNPB Work Team to check again the National Command draft in order to maintain the good name of the organization from the actions of irresponsible parties.
Two of the nine kidnapped women were reported escaping toward a ravine and up to this time their existence has not been found.
Meanwhile seven other victims were brought up by the group toward the region of Bela One and Bela Two.
Egianus Kogeya urged the group that masterminded the action to immediately take responsibility and return all hostages to the family side.
The attack and kidnapping in Jila District on 17 and 18 August 2026 were confirmed carried out by John Lokbere.
TPNPB troops in Kali Kopi Timika and Kodap III Ndugama Darakma have clarified that TPNPB was never involved in the attack action.
The group led by John Lokbere has its own weapons and ammunition but never joined in the official war since 2017 until 2026.
The attack at the Jila Post wounded two Indonesian military personnel and killed a mother before carrying away the civilian women.
TPNPB also attached proof of press conference digital video as well as audio voice recording from Egianus Kogeya to strengthen the official clarification.
The criminal action bringing the name of Kodap III Ndugama Darakma was assessed having damaged the good name of the Free Papua struggle at national as well as international levels.
TPNPB even urged all Papua society from Sorong until Merauke to stay alert against movements of illegal groups acting in the name of struggle. (One Papua)
