KARUBAGA – A civilian named Alias Papuagen, familiarly called Korona Penggu (19), was reportedly killed as a result of Indonesian military fire in Tolikara Regency, Papua. The victim, who was a resident of Kimuggu Village, Telenggeme District, was allegedly shot in the area of Puncak Mega Kubu Belela, Saturday (6/27/2026).

​The Spokesperson of the West Papua National Liberation Army of the Free Papua Organization (TPNPB), Sebby Sambom, stated that after the shooting incident, the body of the victim was allegedly thrown into the forest by apparatus to hide traces of the event.

​Meanwhile, local residents who heard the sound of gunfire immediately conducted a sweep around the location of the incident. Residents found Korona Penggu had died with gunshot wounds on his body, then evacuated the body of the victim to the hometown to undergo a cremation procession.

​Responding to this event, TPNPB conveyed firm demands addressed to President Prabowo Subianto, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto to stop military operations targeting settlements of civilians throughout the region of Papua.

​"Stop the shooting of civilians throughout the land of Papua during military operations taking place in villages," said Sebby, Tuesday (6/30/2026). TPNPB also urged the involvement of international institutions to investigate the humanitarian impact in the conflict region.

​TPNPB even requested the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as well as various international human rights institutions to immediately conduct a thorough investigation over alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes arising as a result of the armed conflict between TPNPB and the Indonesian military.
