TPNPB Central Headquarters Management Regulates Media News Protocol and Field Troops

PAPUA – The Central Headquarters Management of the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) issued a stern warning against the media Nadipapua.com regarding an article published on June 7, 2026. The news titled "TPNPB Declares Solidarity for Dandhy Laksono and Mama Yasinta" by Yohanes Gobai and Manfred Kudiai is said to not comply with the official release and violates the protocol and copyright of the organizational documents.

"We appeal to the media Nadipapua.com and all journalists at both local and national levels to no longer create TPNPB news outside of the Official Release of the National Command (KOMNAS) TPNPB Central Headquarters Management," said TPNPB Spokesperson Sebby Sambom, Monday (8/6/2026).

The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB asserted to all journalists not to receive direct and unilateral reports from the TPNPB Commanders in the 36 Defense Regional Commands (Kodap). This policy was taken because TPNPB considers the reporting untrue and violates applicable internal procedures. TPNPB reminded journalists to stop direct communication with personnel in the regions without going through central headquarters coordination.

Meanwhile, similar instructions were also directed to all TPNPB troops in the 36 Kodap across the Land of Papua. TPNPB strictly forbids its members from sending unilateral reports or news to journalists without the knowledge of the spokesperson because it violates their military protocol. Journalists are required to confirm first before publishing news regarding battles between TPNPB and the Indonesian military or the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

TPNPB even announced that all official releases are now diverted centrally through the TPNPB News Channel on the WhatsApp platform. This step was taken so that journalists, activists, as well as domestic and international public can access valid information directly. TPNPB hopes this official channel becomes the sole material reference for the media in compiling accurate reporting. (One Papua)
