Indonesian Military Enters Korowai Using Civilian Aircraft, TPNPB Issues Severe Threat

BOVEN DIGOEL — The Central Headquarters Management of the National Command of the West Papua National Liberation Army (KOMNAS TPNPB) detected the movement of Indonesian military troops and logistics. Based on a TPNPB intelligence report from Korowai Batu Airport or Danowage Airport, Danowage Village, Kombai District, Boven Digoel Regency, the movement was detected on Sunday (24/5/2026). Two units of civilian aircraft from Timika landed to drop off security forces.

Danowage Airport itself is located in a strategic area directly bordering Yahukimo Regency. This Indonesian military drop-off is referred to as an initial step to launch a large-scale military operation in the border area.

This step was taken by Indonesia after the incident of the deaths of more than 10 security personnel operating as illegal gold miners. Those Indonesian personnel were neutralized by the forces of the TPNPB Defense Regional Command (Kodap) XVI Yahukimo. The clearing operation was led by Major Kumis Passe, Major Dejang Heluka, and Operations Commander Major Kopitua Heluka. Movements on the ground were fully supported by TPNPB forces from the Yamue Battalion and the Kanibal Battalion.

TPNPB declared full readiness to face Indonesian military forces in an open battlefield. The leadership of TPNPB Kodap XVI Yahukimo, Major Kumis Passe and Major Dejang Heluka, also asserted that the Indonesian military must not target civilians who are around the conflict area.

"The arrival of the Indonesian military in the border area of Boven Digoel and Yahukimo to conduct resistance against us, we are ready and will welcome it in the battlefield," said Kumis Passe.

The concern for the safety of civilians is based on the lack of communication access in the border area. If intimidation or wrong targeting against civilians occurs during the military operation, the outside public will find it very difficult to know because there is no internet network. TPNPB also sent a direct message to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the expansion of their operation targets.

The operation targets of the TPNPB now cover all civilian aviation facilities that assist the mobilization of the Indonesian military. Government offices, kiosks, taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, to Indonesian immigrant citizens are included in the target list to be shot. TPNPB is even ready to burn down all infrastructure buildings belonging to Indonesian colonialism on the Land of Papua.

Meanwhile, Indonesian immigrant citizens currently residing in the armed conflict area are urged to immediately vacate their places of residence. Self-evacuation must be carried out immediately before the intensity of TPNPB armed attacks increases further.

The Central Headquarters Management of KOMNAS TPNPB asserted that this warning is absolute to avoid casualties among non-Papuan civilians.

The war to reclaim the independence of the Papua nation, which was proclaimed on 1 December 1961, will continue to rage. The armed struggle will not stop until the Indonesian government recognizes the sovereignty of West Papua and steps out. TPNPB is also targeting every military intelligence agent of the Indonesian government masquerading as civilians or illegal mining workers.

The clearing operations of Indonesian intelligence have proven to be carried out in several strategic conflict points. These intelligence targets all this time disguised themselves in the regions of Yahukimo Korowai, Intan Jaya, Nduga, Pegunungan Bintang, Puncak, Puncak Jaya, Maybrat, to Nabire.

The Spokesperson of the TPNPB Free Papua Organization (OPM), Sebby Sambom, asked immigrant citizens not to ignore this evacuation call.

Sebby Sambom also ensured that all troop elements under the command of the central headquarters are ready to expand the theater of battle. TPNPB indeed will not provide space for Indonesian intelligence movements in the land of Papua. All forms of civilian accommodation used for war interests by the Indonesian military are certain to receive similar consequences. (One Papua)
