PANIAI – The escalation of armed conflict has heated up again in Paniai Regency after the elite troops of TPNPB Kodap XIII Kegepa Nipouda launched a sudden military operation in the Enarotali Airport area, Monday, May 11, 2026.
In the action that took place at midday, TPNPB immobilized two Indonesian military personnel and successfully seized one unit of SS1 V1 long-barreled firearm belonging to a TNI AU member who was on duty at the vital object.
Official reports received by the KOMNAS TPNPB Central Headquarters from the Commander of Kodap XIII, Brigadier General Matius Gobai, and Deputy Commander Henok Yeimo, stated that the operation was carried out exactly at 12:30 WIT.
TPNPB emphasized that the seizure of the weapon is part of a systematic effort to strengthen combat logistics, where all military equipment seized will be immediately designated as permanent assets of TPNPB.
Following the success of the operation, the leadership of TPNPB Kodap XIII stated that TPNPB is fully responsible for all legal and military consequences that arise. TPNPB also issued a firm demand addressed to President Prabowo Subianto to immediately withdraw all Indonesian military units, both organic and non-organic, from the Papua territory.
TPNPB threatens to continue seizing military assets if the presence of Indonesian troops in the region is maintained.
Regarding concerns about further escalation, Brigadier General Matius Gobai and Henok Yeimo gave an open warning to the ranks of Pangkogabwilhan III. TPNPB urged the Indonesian military not to carry out repressive actions or retaliatory attacks targeting civilians around Paniai.
TPNPB stressed that the incident at the airport was purely the responsibility of the TPNPB Kodap XIII command, and challenged the apparatus to face them directly, rather than shifting the target to unarmed citizens.
"The seizure of weapons belonging to the Indonesian military apparatus by TPNPB is the responsibility of TPNPB Kodap XIII Kegepa Nipouda Paniai, so if you want to chase us, please come to the TPNPB headquarters," emphasized the leader of Kodap XIII.
This statement, released through Spokesperson Sebby Sambom, reinforces TPNPB's position in monitoring the security situation and armed confrontation in the Paniai region at this time. ***
