SORONG — West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Sorong Raya Region held an organizational history seminar as well as inaugurated five new members of the Kilo Ten Sector, Thursday (25/6/2026). This step was taken as part of organizational consolidation towards a national action planned for August.
The seminar, which lasted from 17:50 West Papua Time, focused on providing ideology and history briefings for activists. This agenda was guided by Win Wonda along with Moderator Jamaika Weya and Secretary Hendrik Kogoya.
Chairman of KNPB Sorong Raya Region, Klarce Fees, was present as the main speaker to explain the track record of the formation of the organization. She emphasized the importance of understanding history for every cadre in determining the direction of the struggle.
"The history of the West Papua National Committee was founded on November 19, 2008, in the STT Walter Post Auditorium, Sentani, West Papua, by various resistance organizations and student activists and the community, and voiced the humanitarian issue of Papua Military Emergency Zone," said Klarce Fees.
Klarce Fees added that the entire movement built since 2008 is a form of peaceful civil resistance in urban areas. The movement focuses on rejection of the systems of colonialism and capitalism, as well as protesting the political legitimacy of Indonesia in Papua which is rooted in the events of May 1, 1963.
"This is the historical foundation of the struggle that must be known by KNPB activist fighters so that the power of history directs us in strategy and strata of resistance, so a fighter must know history, not fight blindly or not know the historical foundation," she said.
In her presentation, she also reminded the cadres about the non-violence principles adhered to by the organization. KNPB consistently only uses demonstration props in every mass action they conduct in the field.
"KNPB's weapons in every action/peaceful demo are megaphones, banners, pamphlets, brochures, and organization flags," said Klarce Fees.
Meanwhile, Klarce Fees also highlighted the political risks that must be faced by members in the field. This non-cooperative path of struggle is acknowledged not to promise material gain, but rather legal and security consequences from the Indonesian military.
"There is no salary in the KNPB struggle, KNPB's special salary is iron bars (arrested), wanted list (DPO), shot," she stressed.
Entering the next session, the seminar continued with an in-depth discussion regarding humanitarian issues and the military emergency situation in West Papua. This discussion was designed to strengthen the consolidation network from the central level to all regional sectors.
The structured consolidation was prepared to respond to instructions and general appeals from the central KNPB management regarding national action in August. This movement is aimed at gathering broad support towards the agenda of Papua independence.
The series of events was then closed with the inauguration of five new members of the Kilo Ten Sector by the Chairman of KNPB Sorong Raya at 20:30. The entire activity, which was under the responsibility of the Chairman of the Kilo Ten Sector, Jack Weya, officially ended at 22:00 West Papua Time. (One Papua)
