PAPUA - Central Management of the National Command Headquarters of the West Papua National Liberation Army (KOMNAS TPNPB) denies reports regarding the surrender of eight TPNPB military personnel to the Government of Indonesia in Kiwirok District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency.
Based on the official report of the West Papua National Liberation Army Defense Regional Command (TPNPB Kodap) XV Ngalum Kupel, the eight people who surrendered on 10 June 2026 are civilians.
TPNPB states the eight people are part of a marijuana narcotics trafficking syndicate operating in the Pegunungan Bintang region. The illegal business allegedly involves two Indonesian military personnel, identified by TPNPB as Agam Ibo and Doni.
Meanwhile, internal reports of TPNPB reveal that the two Indonesian military personnel played a role in securing the distribution line at Kiwirok Airport. The air transportation facility was used to supply marijuana freely towards Jayapura City and several other regions in Papua using civilian airlines.
TPNPB states this surrender event is a scenario created by security apparatus to disguise narcotics trafficking activities involving their personnel. In the scenario, five civilians allegedly stole inventory attributes belonging to TPNPB, including the Morning Star flag and several units of weapons, to be handed over to the Indonesian military side.
The act of handing over the stolen property was then publicized by various mass media in Indonesia as a momentum of surrender of TPNPB members returning to the lap of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
"All TPNPB Kodap XV Ngalum Kupel forces involved in the attack actions and gunfights against the military apparatus in 2021 in Kiwirok until now still exist," said Sebby Sambom, Wednesday (17/6/2026).
TPNPB issues a strict mandate requesting the eight civilians to immediately conduct an open clarification over the misuse of the TPNPB organizational identity. The eight civilians are identified as Dobali Taplo, Anison Lepki, Semayon Uopmabin, Perses Mimin, Fransiskus Tepmul, Remesto Kalakmabin, Haluki T Bidana, and Pelius Abalil T Uopmabin.
TPNPB asserts this identity sabotage action has damaged the credibility of the political struggle, so that the perpetrators face the punishment of death execution if they ignore the clarification demand. This maximum punishment threat also applies to every TPNPB organic personnel proven to defect or carry out acts of treason against the command of the West Papua independence struggle.
The Central Management of KOMNAS TPNPB Headquarters urges Indonesian military authorities to stop the tactic of involving local civilians in intelligence operations in the armed conflict region of Land of Papua. TPNPB declares they will not hesitate to execute by death civilians proven to be active intelligence agents of the Indonesian military in the red zone.
TPNPB strongly condemns the involvement of Indonesian military personnel in the drug trafficking network which is assessed to damage the morale of the younger generation in Papua and in Indonesia.
Sebby also states that the central command management will tighten supervision at all entrances of tribal territories to break the chain of illegal narcotics supply. (One Papua)
