SENTANI – West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Sentani Region Kabut Cyclops Sector held an open consolidation through the screening and discussion of the documentary film Pesta Babi in Toladan Complex, Ipar Gunung Road, Sentani, Jayapura.
The activity which carries the theme "Papua Military and Humanitarian Emergency Zone" aims to educate the public and strengthen the organizational base at the grassroots level.
The public around Toladan Complex enthusiastically followed the event which took place starting from 18.30 WP until 21.00 WP. Throughout the screening of the film, the attendees actively gave responses and expressions toward the documentary screening presented.
The event was initiated with a general view delivered by the Chairman of KNPB Sentani, Sadracks Lagowan. "This Pesta Babi film is done to see the guise of the Indonesian state crimes against Papuan people, at the same time spurring the people to refuse to submit to oppression but rather stand up to rise up against until the liberation of the people is achieved through a referendum," said Sadracks Lagowan, Saturday (30/5/2026).
The discussion session was then guided by an activist of KNPB Sentani as well as former 2019 racism political prisoner, Frans Waisini, as the main speaker. In his presentation, Frans explained the series of alleged human rights violations and Indonesian military operations in Papua since 1961 until 2026 which are assessed to have not been resolved completely.
In addition to being a forum for discussion, this momentum was utilized by the Management of the Kabut Cyclops Sector to carry out internal strengthening of the sector and recruitment of new members. This step was taken to expand the organizational network in monitoring humanitarian issues in the region.
The activity that night ended with the reading of a statement of attitude and a consolidation appeal by the Regional Management of KNPB Sentani to the wider public. KNPB Sentani stated that the series of film screenings and open consolidations will continue until August 2026 at the grassroots level of the Tanah Tabi region.
Through this agenda, KNPB Sentani appealed to all components of the Papuan community who care about humanitarian issues to build a collective movement. This collective effort is assessed to be important to release themselves from pressure and repression. KNPB also appealed to the masses to remain solid in voicing their civil rights consistently.
