Sebby Sambom Calls for Total Revolution and Ultimatum for Migrants in West Papua

PAPUA - The spokesperson for the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB), Sebby Sambom, has openly called for the creation of a crisis through a total revolution as the primary path toward Papuan independence.

In his latest statement, Sebby emphasized that the struggle for independence can no longer be carried out by waiting, but must be through concrete actions that force all elements of society to get involved.

He highlighted the phenomenon of people who currently still feel comfortable with their daily lives without caring about the struggle, and warned that this situation will soon change.

"That is what I mean by total revolution must be created so that those who enjoy eating, drinking, and sleeping with their wives every day making children, we see it all. We will create the crisis. So we must make the crisis, we create it, we don't just wait, no, if we want to be independent," Sebby Sambom asserted.

Regarding the presence of non-Papuans or Indonesian immigrants on Papuan land, Sebby gave a firm message regarding the limits of TPNPB's tolerance toward what he calls an illegal occupation. He gave migrants the choice to leave the West Papua region or instead join in supporting the independence movement.

According to him, if independence is achieved, those who supported the struggle will be granted legal citizenship rights, as has happened in other Pacific countries.

"The meaning of total revolution is that we do not permit those Indonesian immigrants, please leave West Papua. If you want to join us in the struggle, please join. Because when we are independent, you will have rights to become citizens; the whole world is like that," he explained.

Furthermore, Sebby compared the potential future of Papua with countries such as Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, and Fiji, where migrants, particularly ethnic Chinese, can live side by side and become economic pillars of the country after independence.

He urged Indonesian citizens in Papua, both entrepreneurs and civil servants, to start considering support for Papuan independence for the guarantee of a better future than the conditions of poverty he claims are widely seen on the island of Java.

Sebby Sambom also reminded that although the Papuan people are known to have high levels of tolerance and love, that patience has its limits if the pressure from the Indonesian government continues.

He emphasized that Papuans will not hesitate to take drastic steps if the situation is considered to have exceeded the limits of fairness. "Because we Papuans, as I usually say, are the kindest people in this world already. But human patience has its limits. If Indonesia goes too far, then throw it away," he concluded. ***
