PAPUA - The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) issued threats against local government officials and civilians in Papua accused of being intelligence agents for the Indonesian military. In its official statement, the organization set Wanted Persons List (DPO) status for executive and legislative officials, down to village-level apparatuses deemed to support TNI security operations.
​The operation instruction was delivered by TPNPB General Operations Commander, Lekagak Telenggen, to be implemented across all TPNPB operational areas from Sorong to Merauke. TPNPB emphasized it will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone who provides information regarding the location or defense headquarters of TPNPB to security forces.
​"We officially set DPO status and are ready to shoot dead Governors, Regents, members of parliament, civil servants, Village Heads, and all Papuan officials involved as agents of Indonesian colonialism government," said Lekagak Telenggen, Sunday (26/7/2026).
​This statement follows a shooting incident in Yahukimo Regency on 20 to 21 July 2026. In that event, TPNPB Kodap XVI Yahukimo and Kodap III Ndugama Derakma units shot dead three citizens accused of being military intelligence agents.
​Lekagak Telenggen called the enforcement in Yahukimo a strong warning for civilians. TPNPB assesses that a number of air operations and headquarters raids by TNI forces so far were triggered by reports from certain citizens in the conflict location.
​In addition, TPNPB gave an open warning to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the deployment of military personnel to Papua. TPNPB highlighted the assignment of TNI members holding civilian roles such as medical personnel, teachers, motorcycle taxi drivers, to construction workers, suspected as part of intelligence data collection strategy.
​TPNPB also criticized the distribution of social assistance programs and free nutritious meal programs in conflict areas. According to TPNPB, the social approach targeting children to the elderly is utilized to recruit local informants amid the war situation.
​This step is claimed by TPNPB as part of efforts to maintain operational areas across 36 Defense Regional Commands (Kodap). TPNPB urged civilians not involved in intelligence activities to remain vigilant and not issue speculations regarding the security situation on the ground. (One Papua)
